When a shipment can't afford intermediate stops — stock for a new production line, an urgent equipment replacement, high-value electronics against a fixed deadline — groupage adds a variable you don't control: waiting for the truck to fill with other people's freight, and sharing the trailer with cargo that isn't yours. Every transfer at a consolidation hub means another pair of hands, another chance of damage, another day of uncertainty. Layner Group moves shipments like these between Poland and the Netherlands as a full truckload (FTL): one truck, one route, no transfers.

The Poland-Netherlands corridor sees steady demand from manufacturing and distribution companies: Rotterdam is the EU's largest port, and a large share of the goods that arrive there by sea continue across the continent by truck, including into and out of Poland. For a shipper, that means a dedicated truck on this route isn't a rare exception — it's a standard tool for anyone running a regular flow of cargo between the two countries.

When full truckload beats groupage on this route

Not every shipment needs a dedicated vehicle — if you're moving 2-3 pallets on a flexible date, it's worth comparing groupage against a full truck on the actual numbers first. On this corridor, though, a dedicated vehicle usually pays for itself when:

  • Your cargo takes up more than a third of a trailer — paying for a groupage route with transfers is almost always more expensive in practice, even when the per-pallet rate looks lower.
  • The goods are fragile, high-value, or sensitive to handling — every transfer at a groupage hub is another pair of hands and another chance of damage.
  • The delivery date is fixed: a production line waiting on parts, a warehouse booking window, a contractual deadline.
  • You need several pickup points in Poland or drop-off points in the Netherlands within the same run — with a dedicated truck that's coordinated without changing vehicles.

How the process works

You send us the volume, weight, pickup and delivery points and your preferred date, and we book a truck from our fleet (1 to 24 t, depending on your cargo) exclusively for your shipment. From there:

  1. Pickup in Poland — we coordinate loading time and, if needed, several collection points.
  2. Direct transit — the truck runs the Poland-Netherlands route with no intermediate storage, respecting the driver's mandatory rest periods.
  3. Delivery in the Netherlands — with the option of several drop-off points on the same run.
  4. CMR documentation — handled in line with the rules governing international road freight in the EU.
Dedicated full truckload vehicle running a direct route between Poland and the Netherlands

Because Poland and the Netherlands are both EU member states, the cargo doesn't go through customs clearance at the border — this is an intra-EU movement, not an import from outside the bloc. A direct run on this route usually takes 1-2 days depending on the exact pickup and delivery points; we cover what actually drives transit times across the EU in more detail separately. You'll get a preliminary quote for your shipment within 15-30 minutes.

Security and CMR compliance

A dedicated truck doesn't pass through consolidation hubs, so your cargo isn't handled again between pickup and delivery — nobody touches it in between. The shipment is covered under the CMR convention, which sets the carrier's liability on the route. If your cargo is fragile, high-value or oversized — industrial equipment or a trade-show shipment, for instance — and standard CMR liability isn't enough on its own, we can discuss additional insurance and individual securing; that's handled as a separate service, detailed on our special and oversized cargo transport page. We operate under official transport authorisations valid in Poland and the EU, and we're ISO 9001 certified.

What if something delays the run — heavy traffic, weather, or summer truck-driving restrictions on certain stretches? A direct run has fewer variables than groupage routed through several hubs, and we stay in contact and build in a realistic buffer wherever it's warranted, rather than promising a date we can't back up.

Why Layner Group

We run our own office in Poland — not a subcontractor handling your pickup, but direct control over that leg of the route. Add to that our own fleet from 1 to 24 t, more than 10,000 commercial transports completed, and over 5 years in EU road freight. We cover all 27 EU countries, optimise the route for your specific cargo, and offer flexible payment: 10% on booking, the rest before unloading, so you're not paying the full amount upfront.
