Moving between France and Germany sounds straightforward — they're neighbouring EU countries, after all. In practice, it rarely is. You need a carrier you can trust with everything you own, packing done properly so nothing arrives broken, and a realistic timeline you can actually plan around. Most people face this once and have no idea who to trust with it.
Pick the wrong mover and the price creeps up after the truck is already loaded, fragile items show up damaged, and delivery dates slide with no real explanation. If you're relocating a family or starting a new job in another country, that's not a minor inconvenience — it's lost days, added stress, and belongings you can't simply replace with money.
How we run your move, door to door
Layner Group is an international transport and logistics company with offices in France and Poland, operating across all 27 EU countries. Over 5+ years, we've completed more than 1,500 residential moves and over 10,000 commercial transports — the France–Germany route is routine for us, not a one-off.
The whole process is built so you don't have to coordinate anything yourself:
- Packing. Furniture, appliances and fragile items are professionally packed and secured so nothing shifts in transit.
- Loading and securing. An experienced crew loads and straps the cargo according to safe-transport standards.
- Transport. Our own fleet, from 1 to 24 tonnes, means we assign the right-sized vehicle to your volume — you don't pay for empty space in an oversized truck.
- Route optimisation. Routes are planned to reduce fuel use, CO2 emissions and the final cost of the move.
- Unloading. The same crew unloads and places your belongings at the new address.
How pricing works
We won't quote a figure without knowing your specifics — final cost depends on volume, floor access and lift availability at both ends, distance and moving date. That's why we don't invent numbers upfront: you get a preliminary quote within 15-30 minutes of submitting your details, based on the actual parameters of your move.
Payment is flexible: a 10% deposit confirms the booking, and the balance is due before unloading at your new address. You're paying for work that's actually been done, not funding the whole move in advance.
What timeline should you expect
Because both France and Germany are EU member states, your goods cross the border without customs clearance or the delays that come with it — this is intra-EU movement, not an international customs procedure. As a general guide, delivery typically takes 1 to 4 days depending on route and volume; we confirm the exact window when we prepare your quote, so you can plan your move-out and move-in dates with confidence.
What happens if something gets damaged
Your goods are covered in transit under carrier liability insurance as required by the CMR convention, the international standard governing road freight in Europe. If you're moving antiques, artwork or other high-value items, we recommend arranging separate additional insurance — we'll explain exactly how at the quote stage.
Why Layner Group
We operate under official Polish and EU transport authorisations and hold ISO 9001 certification, which reflects documented quality-control processes, not just a promise on a website. Our own fleet, from 1 to 24 tonnes, means we're not dependent on subcontractors to keep your schedule on track. And with more than 1,500 completed residential moves, we've already handled the situations that could go wrong on your route, so they don't happen on yours.
